Tuesday (1/27/15) Toast Bar at Manifest returns for service, Monday thru Saturday from when doors open till 2pm.
With help from View Street Bread, MF officially adds artesian toast to its list of quality goods. Handmade by Hawaii native Kai Rilliet, patrons can expect a selection of topping options on Country Sour bread, with other breads like Walnut, Fig & Currant, Olive, 100% Whole Wheat, and Seeded breads are just a few of many to follow. Topping options are a combination of seasonally available items, fundamentals, and homemade spreads, plus there will be an option to pre-order loaves for personal enjoyment.
Back in July 2014 Manifest, in collaboration with View Street Bread, tested Toast Bar service for 3 months and met with promising reactions. Although the bread was good, it was agreed to sideline the program so Rilliet could seek hands on tutelage in San Francisco, where a bread movement was already in bloom.
Why so Toasty?
Seeking foods to fit his diet, Rilliet discovered in the pursuit of addressing his food allergies, not only did he love the process of hand making bread, but had a knack for it as well, turning problem solving into order filling.
Across the U.S., Toast Bars have found a place in niche markets, and now its way into Chinatown, Honolulu. “We were seeking ways to offer complementary goods and services to heighten the Manifest’s experience, Toast Bar happens to be that perfect platform for quality, ideal for a small cafe with a limited staff,” says Brandon Reid.
