Cosmic Collage is an imaginative glimpse at everyday life in galaxies near and far. While the cosmos is regarded as complex and orderly, life itself is full of random simple joys. We love, we hurt, we celebrate, we fight and we explore at our own whim.
The galactic-themed mixed media installation marks the one year anniversary of Fernando Pacheco’s debut piece – “The Perils of Oceanic Knowledge” featured in the Ka ‘iko o ka Moana gallery at Honolulu Hale. Pacheco has since experimented with various themes, including space and technology.
The clippings uses in each collage piece come from the same magazine issue. Even the canvas itself is the magazine’s subscription card.
Pacheco is currently the multimedia commissioner for the Mayors Office of Culture and the Arts. In addition to his service to the City & County of Honolulu, he is also a musician – earning six Na Hoku Hanohano award Nominations in his nineteen-year music career. He currently performs with the ska/punk band, No Villains Left.
