A silent performance by Todd Oumi

March First Friday

Come rain or shine, the party must go on…and did it. Manifest fired up First Friday with a live art performance, Todd Oumi. Mr. Oumi, Hawaiian-born but citizen of the world, appears humble and silent. So much that he wouldn’t be the first person you would notice in a crowded bar. This is not the case when watching him fill the ‘larger than life’ blank canvas with merging, whimsical colors. His methodical movements are confident and willing to just let loose. “It is fascinating to see the progression of the canvas come to life.” It brings the viewer a sense of consciousness through all the intentional randomness. Todd Oumi “dances to the beat of a different drum”. Check out our album to view the latest pics.

From Bourbon St. to Hotel St.

February ushered a month of celebrating from Bourbon St to Hotel St. Starting with the Super Bowl win to the infamous street party, Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras, translated to “Fat Tuesday”, refers “to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season, which started on Ash Wednesday.” Chinatown hosted an enchanting night of dancing, cocktails, and costumes.  Check out our latest pics. Sailor Jerry @ Manifest

Manifest celebrated a night of rum drinking festivities in honor of Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins. He is known as the forefront breakthrough tattoo artist of the early 20th century. Combining “classic American visuals and Japanese tattoo art.”

“…he was apparently a prankster with a sadistic sense of humor and a bit of a bigot to boot-but his larger than life-personality makes for compelling viewing and his perspective on the underbelly of Chinatown is one you may not have seen before.”

A collaborative effort from us the venues and you the people. $15 door, $10 presale (tickets available here at Manifest.)
RAGE FOR HAITI is a way to raise awareness of the catastrophic earthquake that has killed thousands of people in Haiti. We’re just a group of girls who wanted to get involved in some shape or form to raise money for the victims of Haiti. Figured everyone likes to go out, so why not for a good cause?! Rage for Haiti is the perfect solution to get the community involved. 100% of door proceeds and money raised through a silent and live auction will be donated to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund (http://clintonbushhaitifund.org)

twentyTEN

Whenever we pull ourselves away from work, we look up to see a room of happy smiling faces, dancing, introducing themselves to one another and we fucking love that. I get off on it. Just think that where once a destination for filth, crime, and pornagraphy is now a location of smart, out going, fashionable chinatown enthusiasts. Most of us are the decendants of local grown grandparents who, never in their lives, would step foot into chinatown, let alone do it at night, but here we are now, throwing it down. We’re coming up on 6months soon and just hurdled our way into TwentyTen. MF would like to thank the local business community, the land owners(especially ours for giving us a chance) and most importantly YOU, the Chinatown enthusiasts who have been supporting the artistic night life scene.
